Unearthed in 1900 AD, this tomb dates back to the second century AD. It stands as a symbol of the seamless blend of Ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman art, featuring a unique artistic style that demonstrates the significant impact of ancient Egyptian culture during the Greco-Roman era.

The second stop will be at Pompey’s Pillar,The main feature of Pompey’s Pillar is the pillar itself, an extraordinary structure made from a single block of red granite. This massive column reaches a height of 20.75 meters, with a base width of 2.70 meters and a crown width of 2.30 meters. When including its base, the entire pillar rises to about 27 meters tall.

Built in 298 AD, this impressive pillar is among the largest memorial columns ever created, honoring the renowned Roman Emperor Diocletian. This is clearly indicated by the inscription of his name, which is prominently featured on the western side of the pillar’s base.

On either side of Pompey’s Pillar stand two impressive statues of sphinxes, carved from red granite.

It contains 10,000 artifacts unearthed from archaeological sites in Alexandria, reflecting the cultural impact of ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Coptic, and Byzantine civilizations. Boasting 30 galleries focused on Greco-Roman artifacts, the museum has retained its classic Roman exterior to preserve its distinctive character.
